Internet Resources: United States Code
We recommend the Legal Information Institute of Cornell University for searching the U.S. Code. This site includes the Table of Popular Names and allows you to search particular titles and by citation. Especially nice, LII provides links to topic related web sites for each code section retrieved, any corresponding CFR sections, and has an update feature that integrates the services of the House servers and the Library of Congress Thomas server to supply accurate updates to any section that has changed. Thus, researchers who use LII don't have to search public laws and the CFR separately. GPO Access: All GPO Access sites can search federal legislation, regulations, and other government documents. Click here for a complete list of the available databases. GPO Access provides hints for searching its databases. If you have difficulty reaching GPO Access directly, try a library gateway.
To update the U.S. Code, search public laws through GPO Access, Thomas, or use the updating service of the U.S. Code from Legal Information Institute at Cornell University, which is available onscreen as you look at each section your search retrieves. |
