From the President
Dear Law Alumni and Friends,
These are exciting times for our School of Law. Our students and graduates continue to establish themselves among our nation’s finest and reflect the outstanding work and teaching by our faculty and staff. Our student base is strong and represents the highest caliber of students in the history of the law school. Our Moot Court teams are continuing to gain national recognition and success. And, of course, the construction of our magnificent new law center on campus develops daily.
At the same time, the Lamar Order is being revitalized. The newly established Law Alumni Hall of Fame will soon announce its first inductees. The inaugural class will be inducted during Law Weekend, which is scheduled for Feb. 26-27, 2010. Nominations are already being accepted for the induction class of 2011, and I encourage you to nominate deserving law alumni, living and deceased, for this outstanding honor.
Alumni support of our law school is vital if we are to see it reach a higher level. Financial support helps offset budget cuts mandated by the state and helps build scholarships needed to attract the very best students. Attending law alumni chapter events is another important means of support. Law alumni events are planned throughout the year, and I encourage your attendance, which will help you maintain a strong connection to our school, our students and our alumni.
I want to thank Macey Edmondson, our director of stewardship, Jamie White, our director of development, and Scott Thompson, our law alumni secretary, for the work they do to assist our School of Law with its efforts to provide scholarships and programming for alumni and students.
Finally, I look forward to the capable leadership of incoming Law Alumni Chapter President Aleita Sullivan. Aleita represents our profession with integrity, and her character is second to none. Aleita, best wishes to you as you embark on this journey to serve our school.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as president of the Law Alumni Chapter. Thank you for continuing to support our chapter and our outstanding School of Law.
