1950s
Lawrence J. Franck ('58) is recipient of the 2002 Professionalism
Award given by the Mississippi Bar Foundation. Franck practices in the

1960s
William A. Gowan Jr. ('66) was appointed by Gov. Ronnie Musgrove as
county court judge of Hinds County.
L. Breland Hilburn ('66), former senior judge of the 7th Circuit
Court District, Hinds County, has joined the Eaves Law Firm in Jackson.
John L. Maxey ('68) of the law firm Maxey Wann, P.L.L.C., in Jackson
is president of the Mississippi chapter of the American Board of Trial
Advocates.
Russell D. Thompson ('64) of Ocean Springs has retired from law
practice. A retired lieutenant colonel with the Air Force, he had practiced
law in Ocean Springs since 1974. He serves as president of the Mississippi
Gulf Coast YMCA and is an elder in the First Presbyterian Church. He is
a past president of the Jackson County Bar Association, Jackson County
United Way, Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club.
1970s
Stephen B. Catron ('74) has been elected president of the Kentucky
Bar Association. A partner with Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, LLP, he has
served on the Kentucky Bar Association's Board of Governors since 1994.
John W. Chapman ('74) has joined the office of Page, Kruger &
Holland, P.A., in Jackson.
Stephen C. Clarke ('73) of Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Iowa, a judge
in Iowa's First Judicial District, is president-elect of the Iowa Judges
Association.
Bobby DeLaughter ('77) was appointed by Gov. Ronnie Musgrove as
judge of the 7th Circuit Court District, Hinds County.
Robert Dunbar ('74) has been appointed manager of the Slidell (La.)
Municipal Airport. Dunbar retired last year as special operations coordinator
for the FBI after 26 years with the bureau.
Richard D. Gamblin ('77) is an associate at Barfield & Associates,
PA, in Jackson.
Robert C. "Bob" Grenfell ('78) of Madison has been promoted
to vice president of regulatory affairs for Entergy Mississippi. He had
been director of that office since 1993.
John M. Harral ('74) has joined the Gulfport office of Butler,
Snow, O'Mara, Stevens and Cannada, P.L.L.C. He practices primarily in
the areas of commercial law, banking law, probate law, and civil
litigation.
W. Reed Hillen ('78) of Tupelo has been named to BancorpSouth's
local advisory board. He is an attorney with the firm Holland, Ray, Upchurch
& Hillen, PA.
James L. Roberts Jr. ('71) received the Distinguished Criminal
Justice Faculty Award from the Department of Criminal Justice at the University
of Southern Mississippi. Roberts has served as a professor of criminal
justice at USM on a half-time appointment since fall 2000.
William R. Wright ('74) is the new president of the Hinds County
Bar Association.

David W. Case ('88) has been appointed to a tenure-track position
on the faculty of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School
of Law, where his primary teaching responsibilities are environmental
law, contracts, and administrative law.
Rex D. Harvey ('84) has rejoined the Jackson office of Daniel,
Coker, Horton & Bell, PA.
Rickey J. Hemba ('81) of Ocean Springs has been named chair of
the state Commission on Marine Resources, the agency that manages the
state's marine life, waterfront areas, and public trust wetlands.
Robertson M. Leatherman Jr. ('87) has opened his own law practice
in Memphis, Tenn.
Charles D. Mitchell ('86), managing editor of The Vicksburg Post,
was elected president of the Mississippi Press Association/Mississippi
Press Services at the group's 136th Anniversary Convention in Biloxi.
Lynn Fitch Mitchell ('84) has joined McGlinchey Stafford, P.L.L.C.,
in Jackson.
G. Martin Street Jr. ('87) has joined Page, Kruger & Holland,
PA, in Jackson as an associate.
