Avoid a parking ticket

Based on feedback from the university community, the Department of Parking and Transportation has made the following revisions to the parking policy:

Parking permit hours: Permits are required for everyone on campus Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Permits are no longer required after 5 p.m., as previously stated.

Visitor parking: Visitors to campus have three options when purchasing the required $1 parking permit:

  • Permits are available at a temporary welcome booth, which opened Monday on University Avenue in front of the Thad Cochran Research Center. A host is selling $1 permits and providing maps and directions from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A permanent booth will open in the same location this month. While the temporary booth takes cash and checks, the permanent booth will take cash, checks and credit cards.
  • Guests can purchase and print their passes in advance by registering at
  • Visitors can purchase their passes at the Department of Parking and Transportation in Lester Hall, Room 120. Guests should park in one of two clearly marked visitor parking spots in front of Lester Hall while purchasing the pass inside.

Media parking: Media traveling to campus should contact UM PR Director Danny Blanton or 662-915-1678 to make arrangements.

Note for students, faculty and staff: Park and Ride will resume Monday, Aug. 19. It will run from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
